PINK SLIP RICK'S FUZZY MATH BUDGET - HB 5001
Some highlights of the 2012 Fuzzy Math Budget are:
- Extensive cuts to higher education by $300 million and to hospitals by $200 million.
- Pink Slip Rick's Billion Dollar Trick: Rick Scott promising $1 billion for public education, which doesn't restore the full $1.3 billion in public education cuts he made last year.
- The rejection of $438 million in federal funding through the Affordable Care Act.
- The sweeping of hundreds of millions from trust funds.
- Millions of dollars awarded for "turkeys" (special member projects).
Now what comes with winning this infamous title as the worst bill of 2012? A lifetime supply of shame and loathing from the people of our great state.
But you and I both know it takes more than Pink Slip Rick pushing an agenda to pass these bills. That's why we also have to highlight the extremist Pink Slip Puppet legislators who are carrying the water for Scott. Representative Denise Grimsley sponsored and actively pushed for the Fuzzy Math Budget along with Senator J.D. Alexander, who sponsored the Senate version. Let's put them on notice today.
Thank you for being a part of our movement,
- Amy
We did it! Thank you!
Thanks to you and thousands of Florida Watch Action supporters, we reached our goal of raising $10,000 to fund bold campaigns online. Together, we can reach out to mobilize at least 10,000 more people to fight back against an agenda that’s killing more jobs every day.
You and I both know that Pink Slip Rick’s proposals are just more job-killing, anti middle class rhetoric. The economic recovery in Florida is anemic at best, and Pink Slip Rick wants to start the bleeding all over again in order to fund his wealthy CEO and big business buddies.
And we’re here to stop him. We’ll need to continue growing our movement, and thanks to contributions from supporters like you – we’re ready to fight.
Thanks for everything you have and will do,
-Amy
P.S. I sent this image around last week, but I just love it. So here it is again, and if you’ve seen it – show someone who hasn’t! Share it on Facebook!
Shady
Pink Slip Rick knows he's in trouble with the voters. That's why he's teaming up with his big business pals to refill his campaign war chest three years before he'll be on the ballot. $500,000 raised in four months.
As we've come to expect from Scott, these contributions are coming from the slimy corporate buddies that his job-killing policies are designed to help. And when asked about the shady money – one in particular of $125,000 from a healthcare profiteer – he refuses to address the issue and runs away like a little coward.
The good news is that we're over halfway toward our goal of raising $10,000 in grassroots contributions this month. Every penny of this new mobilization fund will go to growing our movement by 10,000 people.
You see, Pink Slip Rick needs to spend millions – if not billions – of shady dollars to rehabilitate his tarnished image, but we don't have to. Using the people-power of the internet, we can continue growing our great movement using online ads, social networks, blast emails, and more in a way Scott never can.
It's our competitive edge if you will, and it's how a small band of dedicated progressives created a budding movement opposing Scott's attack on the middle class. And right now, we've only just begun to fight.
Don't wait! Ensure we can grow this movement in 2012 by pitching in $5 or more right here:

We cannot afford four more years with Pink Slip Rick in charge. If his shady corporate pals think dumping tainted money into this fight will work, then they're about to learn a hard lesson about grassroots organizing.
Thanks for everything,
– Amy

ICYMI... Pink Slip Rick and "DONUTS"
He painted a picture of himself as a loving, pro-middle class Governor who is helping to create jobs in Florida. He even went so far as to recreate the now infamous "Donut Debacle" where we crashed a photo op for the Governor at a local donut shop in Tampa by having activists show up to hand him pink slips -- just like he's done to thousands of working people in our great state.
Now, he's telling the tale of a great press moment where he showed the people of our state just how "in-touch" he is with the middle class.
Pink Slip Rick thinks we'll be kind and simply forget everything that he has done to kill jobs and weaken Florida's middle class.
But that's why we're here -- and that's why thousands of people just like you have stood up and joined Florida Watch Action over the last year. I am proud of the progress we are making, but Scott's speech today is a harsh reminder that the Governor will say and do anything to win re-election and help his corporate pals while attacking our hardworking middle class families.
Thank you for everything you do,
-- Susannah
Which Way Will Florida Go?
Will Florida continue its war on the middle class pushed by Pink Slip Rick and his puppets in the Legislature, or will our state change course and focus on protecting and expanding our middle class? That’s the choice we face in 2012, and we will begin to decide our course on the opening day of the Legislative session, January 10th.
Gov. Scott and his allies in the Legislature are already planning their next round of attacks on Florida’s middle class. Pink Slip Rick's proposed budget calls for $2 billion in cuts to health care for Florida’s children, poor, and seniors. Rick Scott’s call for increasing education funding is hollow, as his proposal barely makes a dent in the elimination of critical programs like art and music along with irresponsible teacher layoffs. Local school districts will likely see little to no relief.
If Gov. Scott’s budget became law, it would kill 4,500 more Florida jobs. As our state still faces high unemployment, and with no plan from Pink Slip Rick or his puppets in the Legislature to help Floridians get good jobs, that’s unacceptable.
Since we began rallying against Pink Slip Rick and for protecting Florida’s middle class earlier this year, our state has been changing for the better. Gov. Scott’s approval rating has plummeted from 43% in February to just 26% today. The discussion has also changed. Instead of talking about how much more to take away from middle class families, there is now a stronger and clearer demand for Florida to invest in our future again. Nonetheless, all of the progress we’ve made in 2011 is on the line in 2012.
We must keep up the fight and continue to Awake The State. See you on January 10th!
For Florida,
Susannah
What a year!
Let’s face it... it’s been a whirlwind first year of progressive activism for Florida Watch Action!
What started as an idea to protect out state from the job-killing policies of Pink Slip Rick has turned into a statewide movement that is winning the fight to save Florida. In less than a year we’ve built a powerful organization that has derailed Scott’s agenda and made him the most unpopular Governor in America.
Don’t believe me? Take a look at all the great things we’ve done by watching this slideshow here:
Protests. Robo-calls. Mad-libs. Bumper stickers. Lumps of coal. And much much more!
Not to mention a slew of hilarious (and embarrassing) national stories for Pink Slip Rick featured on Fox News, MSNBC, etc... Heck, we even won a fake award for innovative activism from Rachel Maddow and actually got Stephen Colbert to steal our idea! (You’re still on notice, pal. We will never forget!!!)
But our crowning achievement is helping expose Rick Scott’s agenda for what it is and making sure the people of our state never forget. Because of your hard work and dedication to everything we do, we’re in a strong position to defeat his continued plans to attack the middle class in the coming legislative session.
Relive the greatest moments of the past year and find out how you can get involved next year:

We're making a list... and checking it twice!
Santa Claus is coming to town this month and while he’s delivering toys to little boys and girls, he’ll also be dropping off something a little less glamorous to our favorite job-killing Governor. That’s right, for all the damage Pink Slip Rick has done to our state he’ll be getting a big lump of coal in his stocking!
But we’re not satisfied with sending him just one lump of coal – we want to send him thousands.
This is no joke!
Following the Holiday we’ll be taking thousands of pieces of coal to the Governor’s mansion and delivering them alongside a message to Pink Slip Rick that we know whether he’s been naughty or nice this year. (We don’t however know if he’s been sleeping or awake... that would just be creepy!)
But we know if Pink Slip Rick’s been bad or good and he hasn’t been good for goodness sake!
Okay, no more cheesy Holidays puns for me. I just love the Holidays so much!
Thank you for standing up for Florida,
– Susannah
P.S. Okay, one more! Pink Slip Rick knows we’re making a list and checking it twice and that we already know he’s been naughty, not nice. Let’s remind Scott by sending him thousands of lumps of coal!
DELIVERED!
This week, we took the thousands and thousands of grassroots messages supporters like you wrote to Pink Slip Rick on his birthday and delivered them to our favorite job-killing Governor. Thank to you we were able to use his day to remind millions of Floridians of the damage Scott is doing to our great state.
Check out photos from our press conference and help us continue to fuel these great efforts here:
I’m also proud to let you know that these efforts are working as this week Pink Slip Rick has hit a new polling low with an approval of just 26%. That makes him the most unpopular Governor in the nation!
The only question now is whether the legislature will stand with the PEOPLE or Rick Scott next session?
Either way, Florida Watch Action will be right there fighting Pink Slip Rick’s agenda and holding every member of the legislature accountable to their actions. In the meantime, please take a few moments to check out the cake, the messages, and all the great work our team put into the birthday press conference!
Thanks again for all the birthday messages,
-- Susannah
